Pink Chai tea
Pink Chai isn’t just delicious; it also offers some nifty health benefits. The green tea used in this recipe is rich in antioxidants, which are great for your body. These compounds help combat free radicals, supporting your immune system and overall health. Plus, the teaspoon of sugar can give you a quick energy boost and the cardamom warms your body – a lovely ingredient that may help with digestion and has anti-inflammatory properties. Enjoying a cup can also promote relaxation and a sense of calm,
Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 2 tablespoons green tea (Kashmiri green tea if available)
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cardamom pods, crushed
- 1 cup whole milk (or your dairy-free alternative)
- 2 tablespoons sugar (or to taste)
- Pistachios, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
- Add the green tea and baking soda to the boiling water. (The baking soda is the secret ingredient that helps create that gorgeous pink color!)
- Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10-15 minutes. Don’t worry; the water will reduce and turn a lovely deep red-brown color.
- Once done, add the crushed cardamom pods.
- Now, using a whisk or a ladle, whisk the tea vigorously for a few minutes—this step is quite fun, and it helps aerate the tea! You can whisk it until the tea turns lighter in color, which usually takes about 5 minutes.
- Next, slowly add the milk, stirring gently until combined. Bring it back to a gentle boil and add sugar according to taste.
- Pour yourself a cup, and don’t forget to garnish with chopped pistachios! Enjoy every sip!
